Capitalismo solar e heliotropismos

Partindo de uma viagem por entre os trabalhos desenvolvidos nos últimos anos, Hugo de Almeida Pinho irá na sua apresentação focar-se nas investigações mais recentes desenvolvidas por entre residências artísticas, ciclos de estudos e exposições internacionais. Estas investigações artísticas de propostas especulativas têm-se caracterizado pela diversidade formal e cruzamento interdisciplinar.
Condenando uma forma de heliocentrismo que desenvolve procedimentos de marginalidade, apropriação e neocolonialismo energético, o seu projecto mais recente reflecte sobre certas problemáticas sociais e ecológicas ligadas a políticas de visibilidade e de invisibilidade do capitalismo solar, e as suas diferentes implicações e realidades críticas.
Solar capitalism and heliotropisms
Starting from a journey through the works developed in recent years, Hugo de Almeida Pinho will focus in his presentation on the most recent investigations developed through artistic residencies, cycle of studies, and international exhibitions. This artistic research of speculative proposals has been characterized by formal diversity and interdisciplinary intersection. Condemning a form of heliocentrism that develops procedures of marginality, appropriation and energy neocolonialism, his most recent project reflects on certain social and ecological issues linked to policies of visibility and invisibility of solar capitalism, and their different implications and critical realities.
Hugo de Almeida Pinho é artista e investigador. Vive e trabalha entre Alemanha e Portugal. Em 2024 completou o mestrado/ diploma em Media Art/Media Philosophy pela Hochschule für Gestaltung HfG Karlsruhe, enquanto bolseiro FC Gulbenkian. Licenciado em Artes Plásticas/ Pintura pela FBAUP Porto e pela Marmara Üniversitesi Istambul.
Desenvolveu trabalho em residência artística na Cripta 747 (Turim, 2020), na Cité Internationale des Arts /Institut Français (Paris, 2019-20), na Künstlerhaus Bethanien /FC Gulbenkian (Berlin, 2018-19), Arquipélago (Ribeira Grande – Açores, 2015), no L’Octroi (Tours – França, 2015), entre outros.
Expõe regularmente desde 2009, destacando-se as exposições mais recentes em que participou: Endless Sun: The Cinematic Sunrise (Gnration, Braga 2024); Die Lange Nacht (Shedhalle, Zurique 2024); “Time is the (…) Unit” (FARRA, Elvas 2024); Hierophanies (Brotéria, Lisboa 2024); Solar Capital (ACUD Galerie, Berlim 2023); Solar Influx (Arsenal, Berlim 2023); Matter Non-Matter Anti-Matter (ZKM, Karlsruhe 2022); Back of My Hand (CSL, Lisboa, 2022); Gravitas (Fundação Leal Rios, Lisboa, 2022); Theater of Sun (Cripta747, Turim, 2020); The Seeing Eye (Petite Galerie – Cité des Arts, Paris, 2020); Terra Rara (DIDAC, Santiago de Compostela, 2019); Paradox of Plenty (Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlim, 2019); Pedra Pedra (Appleton [Box], Lisboa, 2018).

Hugo de Almeida Pinho is an artist and researcher. Lives and works between Germany and Portugal. In 2024 he completed his master’s degree/diploma in Media Art/Media Philosophy from the Hochschule für Gestaltung HfG Karlsruhe, with an Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship. Graduated in Fine Arts/Painting from FBAUP Porto and Marmara Üniversitesi Istanbul. Artist-in-Residency at Cripta 747 (Turin, 2020); Cité Internationale des Arts /Institut Français (Paris, 2019-20); Künstlerhaus Bethanien /FC Gulbenkian (Berlin, 2018-19); Arquipélago (Ribeira Grande – Azores , 2015); L’Octroi (Tours – France, 2015), among others.
