Ambrose Bierce (1842-?), circa 1896. American writer and journalist. In 1913, Bierce crossed the border into Mexico, in the middle of the Mexican Revolution. joining Pancho Villa’s army as an observer. After a last letter to a friend, dated December 26, 1913, he vanished and was never seen again.
