Mike, the headless chicken In 1945. Lloyd Olsen, a farmer from Colorado in the United States, cut off the head of a rooster called Mike with the intention of eating him for dinner. However, Mike didn't die.  He lived for another 18 months, travelling as an attraction from fair to fair in the company of other natural phenomena, such as a two-headed calf.
