Original sketches by Leon Underwood, a british artist who worked for the Royal Engineers in WWI. These sketches were then used to built the fake trees.

Artists in the Royal Engineers selected a real tree on the battlefield, normally dead and/or bomb blasted, measuring, drawing and photographing it carefully. Later, the real tree was replaced by its replica, to be used as advanced outpost.
